price, lauraMrs. Laura M. Price, 94, of Galesburg passed away at 11:15 pm Thursday, October 15, 2015 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

She was born March 4, 1921 in Maquon, Illinois the daughter of Harry and Gladys McWilliams Haynes. She married Wendell E. Price on May17, 1942 in Maquon. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2002.

Laura is survived by her three daughters, Sharon A. Hambsch and Judy M. both of Galesburg and Wendy C. Wilson of South Elgin, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Timothy (Sheila) Hambsch of Chandler, Arizona, Staci Lovell of Oneida, Illinois, Melinda Labossiere of Ledyard, Connecticut, Shawna (James) Bryson of Machesney Park, Illinois, Tiffiny (Donnie) Pool of Blandinsville, Illinois, Bradley Hambsch and Gregory Imes both of Galesburg, Bryant (Corey) Wilson of Burlington, Iowa and Shawn Wilson of South Elgin; 20 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Alice (Leon) Uhlmann of Galesburg and Mary (Don) Pont of Utah; two brothers, Paul and Jim Haynes both of Oneida. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Richard Price May 23, 2005, one brother, Eugene, one sister, Helen Mae and two sons-in-laws, George Wilson and Phil Hambsch.

Laura received her Master’s Degree from Western Illinois University. She taught school in Maquon, Knoxville and Elburn, Illinois for 28 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and devoted many hours of service whenever she was needed. Laura enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidering and quilting. Her passion was writing. She journaled almost every day of her life for the last 50 years. She loved sending cards and letters to everyone she cared about. Laura and her husband, Wendell, enjoyed traveling and were able to travel the world. Laura was an avid Cub Fan.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Mary Runge will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm at the chapel.
