CTA Yellow Line set to resume after embankment collapse

SKOKIE, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Transit Authority says it will resume rail service along the Yellow Line in suburban Skokie at the end of October. That is more than five months after an embankment collapsed and disrupted service.

The agency says the collapse in May was caused by a Metropolitan Water Reclamation District construction project. No trains were on the track when it gave way and no one was injured.

Service will resume Oct. 30 after several more weeks of inspections and testing.

On average about 2,900 people use the Yellow Line daily.
