$50,000 Knoxville Community Endowment Fund Announced

Knoxville signMembers of the Knoxville community will officially announce a new, endowed, $50,000 Community Fund this Sunday at Knoxville High School.

The endowment fund, which is held through the Galesburg Community Foundation, is based off of a challenge match.

A steering committee made up of community members raised $25,000 which was matched by GCF. An additional $5,000 grant from the foundation will assist in marketing expenses as well.

The money will be used to “provide local resources that will create local solutions.”

Steering committee member Peg Bivens says the fund is “an incredible accomplishment,” and that it will help meet needs for the community and for future generations. GCF Executive Director Josh Gibb adds that “the fund will have a long-lasting positive impact in Knoxville.”

Sunday’s celebration will include a performance by the Knoxville Community Band and a presentation about the grants. Festivities begin at 3 p.m.
