Obama to speak to police chiefs group in Chicago next week

CHICAGO (AP) — The White House says that President Barack Obama is coming to Chicago next week.

The White House said in a Wednesday morning news release that Obama would speak at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference on Tuesday. It will be at the McCormick Place convention center.

The visit will come after Obama plans Thursday to take part in a panel discussion on criminal justice reform in Washington. The White House says the focus of that event will be to talk about how to make law enforcement and correctional practices more just and effective.
