Rockford man gets 60 years in road-rage killing

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A 35-year-old Rockford man has been sentenced to six decades in prison in the 2011 death of a motorist who was gunned down in what authorities called a case of road rage.

The Rockford Register Star reports that James D. Anderson was found guilty of first-degree murder in July following a jury trial. He was sentenced Monday to 60 years in prison, the maximum sentence he could’ve received.

During the trial, prosecutors contended that Anderson and 46-year-old Paul R. Ezop of Roscoe were driving separate cars when one of the vehicles cut in front of the other. They said Ezop was fatally shot when he climbed out of his vehicle and approached the other one.

One of Anderson’s attorneys said after his conviction that he plans to appeal.
