Galva Woman Arrested on Meth Charges

galesburgpolicelogoA Galva woman was taken into custody early yesterday morning, following a routine traffic stop that resulted in more serious drug charges.

Galesburg Police stopped 18-year-old Leah J. Anderson at the corner of Blaine Ave. and E. North Street around 1:17 a.m. yesterday.

The initial stop was made for improper use of a turn signal. As Police allowed Anderson to leave, she was asked is she had anything illegal in the car.

Anderson consented to a search, and police found a small foil containing a white substance that was later field tested as less than five grams of methamphetamine. A bag of synthetic potpourri and various pipes were found as well .

Anderson is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and was issued a written warning for the improper signal.

The Galva woman appeared via video conference in Knox County Circuit Court yesterday. Judge Thomas Ewing has set bond at $5,000. Anderson is currently being held in the Knox County Jail and will re-appear in court October 30th at 11 a.m.
