Great River Pain Center to open Galesburg practice

GreatRiver logoA clinic specializing in the treatment of acute and chronic pain is coming to Galesburg next month.

The Great River Pain Center plans to open its doors at 555 North Kellogg St. with a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 5th at noon.

In a news release, the practice says it offers a “more manageable lifestyle through specialized and individualized treatment” for pain stemming from arthritis, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, cancer, back and neck pain as well as other debilitating conditions.

Pain Center Medical Director Dr. Sanjay Sundar has worked for nearly a decade in the field and and is board certified specifically in pain management.

Sundar tells WGIL the local clinic has a lot to offer the workers of Galesburg.

“It’s a fairly hard working population who often will incur chronic painful injuries, like bad back or something like that,” Sundar says, “and those are the people we’re trying to help; just to help them keep working and being able to tend to their families and have a good quality of life.”

He further says Galesburg is “very under served” in regard to pain management services people can receive, adding the city does not currently have any full-time, fellowship trained pain physicians.

The clinic will accept all insurances and, in many cases, will accept patients without a referral from individuals’ primary doctors.
