Motorcyclist charged in fatal Lake Shore Drive crash

CHICAGO (AP) — A motorcyclist is accused of speeding through a red light and fatally striking a pedestrian who was crossing Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.

Chicago Police charged 20-year-old Charles Lyons of Chicago on Friday with one felony count of reckless homicide with a motor vehicle and other charges.

Police say on Monday at around 10:25 p.m. Lyons was speeding on his motorcycle when he struck a man and a woman who were in a crosswalk. The woman died. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has identified her as 25-year-old Katrin Kutscheidt.

A man in his 40s was seriously injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Lyons was treated for his injuries at a hospital before he was charged.
