Barbara_CollisterBarbara Anne Collister, 88, of Galva, died at 3:00 AM, Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Hillcrest Home in Geneseo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 28 at the First United Methodist Church in Galva. Pastor Ann Champion will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 27 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Galva.

She was born June 13, 1927 in Rushville, IL, the daughter of Earl and Hettie (Flack) Robinson. She married Norman Collister on November 30, 1947 in Galva. He survives, as do five sons, Robert (Jennifer) Collister, Russell (Carol) Collister and Keith (Teri) Collister, all of Galva, Marshall Collister of Tremont, IL and Phillip Collister of Owings Mills, MD, two daughters, Linda (John) Coon of Morton, IL and Janet (Paul) Estes, of Kewanee; eight grandchildren, Jen (Jerrod) Williams, Susan and Greg Collister, Jon (Angelina) Estes, Michael Estes, Kale, Chris, and Randy Collister; great granddaughter, Sadie Bolden, as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Gerald (Ruth) Robinson, Carlisle Robinson, Elwyn “Dutch” (Marge) Robinson, Keith (Helen) Robinson, Meade “Cotton” (Betty) Robinson, George Robinson, Cecil Robinson, and four sisters, Juanita (Paul) Best, Laura (Bill) Almgren, Betty (Mark) Mitchell, and Wanda Lee Robinson.

Barbara graduated from Galva High School in 1945. She was a farmer’s wife and had worked at the Galva Creamery and Kneen’s Department Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School, worked in the nursery, was on the Ways & Means Committee and was part of the Married Folks Class and United Methodist Women.
