Campbell, Margaret Elizabeth Walters

Margaret Elizabeth Walters Campbell, 104, of rural Seaton, IL died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Genesis Hospital, Aledo, IL.

She was born Sept. 24, 1911 at home in Bald bluff Township, Henderson County, Il the daughter of John Wesley and Dolly (Miller) Walters.  She was raised and educated in Henderson County, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1929 and attended Western Illinois University where she received her Teachers Certificate.

Margaret married Howard Campbell in June 1939 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and he died in 1972.

Margaret taught for 26 years in country school in the Aledo and Yorkwood School Districts.  She also worked for many years on the family farm.

Margaret was an avid Bridge player.  She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and playing Solitaire of which she has recorded playing over 48,000 games.

She was of Methodist faith and attended the former Belmont Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sister, Virginia Ewing of rural Seaton; 2 granddaughters, Dayle Paulis and Dawn D’rozia; 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, William “Bill” Campbell; brother, John Miller Walters; 3 sisters, Pearl Lavene, Geneva Welch and Estella Hutlgren.

As per Margaret’s wishes cremation has been accorded.  Graveside committal services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Belmont Cemetery, north of Little York IL. Memorials may be given to Strom Center, Monmouth.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
