McCulloch_Ruth_001Miss Ruth M. McCulloch, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:18 AM Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

She was born on April 29, 1928 in Peoria, Illinois to George and Anna Hickman McCulloch.

She is survived by a brother, Charles McCulloch of Galesburg and his children, Evelyn, Tom, Mike and David.  She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill McCulloch, Marvin McCulloch, Fred McCulloch and Paul McCulloch; and two sisters, Bessie Johnson and Beatrice Johnson.

Ruth was an inspector at Maytag Corporation for 33 years before her retirement.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church.  She was an avid Cub fan.

She was the pitcher on the Galesburg Wyettes women’s softball team for several years.  That team later became the Scrappers.  Her nickname was “Fireball.”  She also toured the country with the Kewanee Ball Hawks for several seasons.

She bowled for 36 years for the Bowlettes team on Thursday nights where she received several championship trophies.

Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Friday, November 6, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Pamela Marolla officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.  Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
