Springer, HopeMrs. Hope E. Springer, 79, of Galesburg, Illinois died 10:35 AM Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born on January 1, 1936 in Macomb, Illinois to Charles L. and Elma Prentice Foster.  She married Gerald H. Springer on February 20, 1959 in Macomb.  He survives

Also surviving are two sons, Derald H. Springer of Galesburg, Illinois and Jonathan L. (and Annette) Springer of Syracuse, New York; a daughter, Darl Hope Springer of Peoria, Illinois; a brother, Homer C. (and Jane) Foster of Gibson City, Illinois; two sisters, Charleen Foster of Gibson  City and Kathleen Carter of New Port Richey, Florida; six grandchildren, Jill Carlson, Bret Carlson, Joi Carlson, Caleb Springer, Cassandra Springer and Cameron Springer and five great-granddaughters, Aayliah Coleman, Ai‘yanna Coleman, Arianna Coleman, Ava Carlson and Izabella Carlson.  She was preceded in death by a sister and a granddaughter.

Hope was a licensed practical nurse at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 17 years.  She was a 1954 graduate of Macomb High School.  She was a 1958 graduate of Toccoa Falls Bible College and a 1976 graduate of the Carl Sandburg College nursing program.

She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent as well as a deaconess.  She was also president of the Women’s Missionary Fellowship and active in the Galesburg Rescue Mission.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Wilson officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church of the Galesburg Rescue Mission.  Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
