Chicago council’s watchdog turns over files to FBI

CHICAGO (AP) — An attorney leaving a municipal watchdog post in Chicago says he turned over his computers and investigative files to the FBI.

Faisal Khan was Legislative Inspector General for Chicago’s City Council. He worked his last day Monday, claiming the city’s aldermen tied his hands and didn’t really want any oversight.

Khan says he requested the FBI come with a subpoena to get his files. He says he has referred possible criminal matters to the FBI during his term and to other outside agencies such as the IRS.

Khan has been at war with certain aldermen, and some were only too happy to see him go. Alderman Joe Moore recently told the Chicago Tribune he was “taking up a collection” to buy Khan “a one-way ticket back to New York.”
