Illinois Hospital Association board names new top executive

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois Hospital Association will soon have a new top executive.

The board of the influential group, which represents more than 200 hospitals in the state, announced Friday that A.J. Wilhelmi will become its new president and CEO on Jan. 1.

Wilhelmi is a former state senator who joined the hospital group in early 2012 as its chief government relations officer.

The Illinois Hospital Association’s current CEO Maryjane Wurth is joining the American Hospital Association in late January. She will be the national group’s chief strategy and relationship officer, and president and CEO of Health Forum.

Last spring, the Illinois Hospital Association and the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council announced plans to merge. The merger begins in January.
