Chamber Board considers restructuring

Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Dave Pearson said the Chamber is considering a restructuring in the aftermath of former Executive Director Steve Brody’s firing last month.

Following today’s annual Thanksgiving Luncheon put on by the Chamber, Pearson said the board has formed a search committee to fill “a position,” adding that it may not be Brody’s exact position.

He tells WGIL specific details are being figured out and there is no timeframe for when the board will move forward with plans.

“That’s a board decision that hasn’t been taken yet,” Pearson says, “and they are mulling a number of concepts.”

Pearson did not comment on the reasons behind Brody’s firing, however, he referred to the possible restructuring, as it relates to Brody’s employment, as “chicken or egg.”

Peerson reaffirmed that the chamber is looking to make a hire.

“We’re talking with a lot of different organizations that control things here,” he says, “and control economic development and control just the roles of activities in town, and to see how we can work together and what kind of person would make it best for everybody to work together.”

The Chamber search committee is made up of Candy Webb, Adam Sampson, Steve Browning and Ken Springer.
