Longtime Galesburg Public Schools Foundation Administrator steps down

After nearly 25 years with the Galesburg Public Schools Foundation, Patti Bibo has announced her retirement.

At the end of the month, Foundation Administrator Bibo will be stepping down and Teresa Baxter will transition into the position starting December 1st.

Bibo tells WGIL she felt the time was right to retire.

“I figured it’s been nearly 25 years and it’s been a great run,” says Bibo. “I’ve got two little grand-babies up in Chicago and I enjoy going up there. I just figured now is the time, why not? My husband and I like to travel, so it all just kind of fell into place.”

Bibo says she intends to continue working with the Public Schools Foundation through volunteer work as well as expanding the time she works as a Nielson Elementary School reading buddy.

Over the past 25 years, Bibo says she has built bonds with everyone she works with.

“Students, staff, teachers and administrators–they have just been so helpful to me, allowing me to be helpful to the students”, says Bibo.

Bibo is a Central Washington University graduate ands has lived in Galesburg since 1978. She began working at the Foundation in 1991, starting as Assistant Campaign Director.
