The barndoor is open and ready for Christmas

Sleigh bells, snow flakes and Walnut Grove’s Christmas at the Farm are all signs of the season that’s about to be upon us.This weekend at the historic 19th century barn in Knoxville, local artisans that make everything from popcorn to furniture will be selling and displaying their creations.

Even if you’re in the market for a Christmas tree you’ll be able to purchase one at Walnut Grove.

One of the artisans featured this weekend is Chris Dokolasa, a retired Art teacher and local artist who will have her pottery, everything from knitting bowls to vases.

Dokolasa tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL, that the event is a great way to get into the Holiday spirit as well getting some early shopping done.

“If you don’t want to spend the craziness of a big box store or something crazy like that come out to the barn because the atmosphere is just so nice and laid back and you’re going to feel like Christmas out there. It will be a treat.”

The times are 10 to 4 on Friday and Saturday and from 11 to 3 Sunday.

Sources are saying Santa has even been known to make an appearance in the past.

There will also be an opportunity to help the hungry by bringing a food donation for the Knoxville Council of Churches to be distributed in December.

The barn is on the National Register of Historic Places and Christmas at the Farm is having it’s 25th anniversary.
