Here is a recap of tonight’s boys basketball game courtesy of WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz: “It was a good start for the Galesburg High School boys basketball team tonight. Thanks to a good challenge from East Peoria early in the game, Silver Streaks built a 7 point halftime lead and then had a good start to the 3rd quarter, opened up a 10 point burst to take a 17 point lead and ended up winning it over the Raiders 74-54.

“Ethan Meeker lead the way with 29 and was 2 points off his career high. Jarett Olson got his first Silver Streaks start and scored in double figures in his debut with 11 including 3 three-pointers in the second half. Galesburg at 1-0 now goes on to face Team Englewood on Friday here on WGIL. It’s a scheduled Noon start which will put our pregame show at 11:40. And then Galesburg will take on Limestone later in the night at 7:30.

“Other games Friday will find Peoria Notre Dame taking on Moline, getting things started at 9am out at Theil Gym. That will be followed by Rantoul and East Peoria before our broadcast between the Streaks and Team Englewood.”

Ethan Meeker was our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch-Time player of the game for the night as well. He had, as mentioned above, 29 total points in the game and 3 three-pointers helped make up that total.
