Two were hospitalized Wednesday night as a result of a single vehicle wreck in rural McDonough County.
According to an Illinois State Police news release, a 2003 Dodge pickup driven by 26-year-old Jesse J. Hughes of Macomb was traveling southbound on US Route 67 when the driver lost control a half mile north of County Road 550 North.
Hughes drove across the oncoming lane into a ditch, causing the truck to roll twice.
The unidentified passenger and Hughes were ejected from the vehicle. Both were transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Hughes sustained non-life threatening injuries. The passenger was in critical condition.
Police charged Hughes with Driving Under the Influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to wear a seatbelt and other charges.
The wreck occurred at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday.
McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, McDonough District Hospital Ambulance and Industry Fire Department assisted at the scene.
