Here is a recap of tonight’s GHS boys game, courtesy of WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

“The Galesburg boys basketball team finished off it’s second straight Thanksgiving Tournament title tonight with a 59-38 win over the Irish of Peoria Notre Dame. Silver Streaks forced 9 Notre Dame turnovers in the 4th quarter to open up what was a 9 point lead into a 22 point lead and the Silver Streaks, again, won it by 21. All five victories in the Thanksgiving Tournament were by at least 20 points and the Silver Streaks placed three players on the all tournament team, Ethan Meeker, Devyn Ross, and Jarret Olson.

“Silver Streaks now prepare for their only game of the week, the Western Big Six Conference Opener coming up on Friday at United Township, under former Silver Streak, 1997 graduate Ryan Webber, now in his first year as head coach of the Panthers. But in the mean time the Silver Streaks will celebrate a 5-0 start and prepare for that conference opener on Friday.”

Our Dave’s Autobody Player of the Game tonight was Ethan Meeker who had 18 points in the game with 4 3-pointers. The only other player to break into double digits tonight was Jarret Olson who was one off of his record with GHS with 21 points.

As Brad mentioned above, the Streaks will be playing again next Friday at United Township. Pre-game time for that one is set for 7:06 with a tip off scheduled to go around 7:30. You can catch all the action for the conference opener next week with a play by play from Brad Bennewitz and Jim Lee on 93.7FM and 1400AM WGIL, WGIL.com, or the TuneIn app.
