Festival of Trees looking to aid in Discovery Depot momentum

discovery depotThe Discovery Depot is looking to bolster momentum they’ve seen this year with their annual fundraiser this week.

There’s a record breaking number of sponsors and silent auction items for Thursday’s Festival of Trees at the Depot.

The fundraising soiree as well as the museum itself have seen mounting momentum in the last few years.

Executive Director of the Discovery Depot, Denise Bradburn tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL that the board of directors has been extremely pleased with the amount of visitors in 2015.

“All of our attendance numbers beat out attendance numbers in 2014,” says Bradburn. “We’re pretty proud of the fact that we haven’t had what they call a two-year dip in the museum industry. We’ve kind of beat all of the records and I’m not surprised.”

The cost to attend the festival $10 for a ticket purchased at the depot ahead of the evening and $15 at the door that night, although Bradburn says she’s not sure tickets won’t sell out.

Among items available to bid to on win will be two refrigerators, four passes to Walt Disney World and 50 bottles of wine in a wine grab.

Auctioneers this year will be Auctioneer Van Adkisson, County Clerk Scott Erickson and WGIL’s Terry Cavanaugh.
