Grand Ave. crash hospitalizes one

1201151419b~2Police and paramedics responded to the a two vehicle wreck on Grand Avenue near Kimberly Terrace apartments around 1:30 this afternoon.

The driver of a Buick LeSabre, who has not been named at this time, was transported from the scene to a local hospital by Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service.

Her condition has not yet been disclosed.

Dan Mammen of Delavan was the driver of a Butch’s Pizza delivery truck involved in the wreck.

Mammen said he was headed east on Grand when a LeSabre traveling west began to cross the center line.

Pointing at tire marks he left in the grass south of the road, Mommen said he swerved to avoid a collision and ended up off road.

The front driver’s side of the LeSabre struck the rear driver’s side of the delivery truck, crumpling the car’s front corner and causing minor damage to the truck.

The car was towed from the scene. Airbags deployed in the sedan.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for about an hour, resuming just before 2:30 p.m.
