GHS Girls Basketball vs Jacksonville @ Illinois College

The GHS Silver Streaks Girls basketball team beat the Jacksonville Crimsons tonight 78-23. This makes the girls 11-1 for the season. The girls will play again next Friday against Salem in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament. Pre-game for that one is set for 9:40 in the morning with a 10am tip.

GHS Boys Basketball vs Davenport Assumption @ IA/IL Shootout

The GHS Silver Streaks boys basketball team beat the Davenport Assumption Knights this evening 65-53. This leaves the boys 10-0 for the season and the Knights are now 4-2 for their season. The Silver Streaks will play again next Friday against Rantoul in the Taylorville Holiday Tournament with a pre-game start time of 4:40 in the evening and a 5pm tip.

Galesburg Silver Streaks vs Quincy Blue Devils Boys Basketball

The GHS Silver Streaks boys basketball team beat the Quincy Blue Devils tonight(12/19) 62-44. This makes GHS 9-0 for the season and 3-0 in the conference while Quincy falls to 5-3 for the season and 1-2 in the Western Big 6 conference. The boys will play again tomorrow evening against Davenport Assumption in the Genesis Iowa/Illinois shootout. Pre-game for that one is set for 4:40 with a tip off scheduled for 5:00. Following that the GHS girls will be playing Jacksonville at Illinois College with a pre-game set for 6:10 and tip off slotted for 6:30. Broadcast will go straight from the end of the boys’ game into the girls’ on WGIL.

Interview: author Susan Van Kirk

Local author Susan Van Kirk has a new book out and is out promoting and doing a signing tour.

Susan Van Kirk is a Galesburg native and a Knox College graduate. She was a high school English teacher in Monmouth for 34 years and also taught for 10 years at Monmouth College. She previously self-published several short stories. Susan has a new book that has been published. It’s entitled, “Three May Keep A Secret”. The book is the first in a series of mysteries that take place in “Endurance, Illinois”. Susan joined us on the WGIL Morning News.
