PACC ButlerLuther “Pacc” Butler is an author a father and many other things, including a former member of a Chicago street gang.

After enduring an abusive home life, Luther “Pacc” Butler ended up on the streets of Chicago at a young age. The gang became his family and his lifestyle. But with the guidance of a former police officer and as long hard look in the mirror, he turned his life around. He has written a book about his experiences and now mentors young people. Josh Eiker will be a junior at Galesburg High School. He’s having a busy summer due to being one of the top sprinters in the country.

Josh Eiker placed 2nd in the 200 meters and 4th in the 100 at the Class AA IHSA State Track & Field meet. He broke the Class AA record in the 200 in the semifinals. That time qualified him to compete in the USATF Junior Nationals in Eugene, Oregon this weekend. He has since won his age group at the Illinois Junior Olympic meet in both the 100 and 200, breaking the state 200 record and setting a new Galesburg High School record in the 100. Josh and Streaks head track coach Craig Hillier joined us on the WGIL Morning News.

Pegasus Mfg. is a leading supplier of complex machined parts and assemblies to the food processing, automotive, and contract manufacturing industries.

Pegasus relocated from California to Galesburg. They are currently looking to hire qualified individuals. Ray Whitehead is the Director of Operations for Pegasus. Ray joined us on the WGIL Morning News to talk about their business and the move  to Galesburg.

Galesburg High School graduate Ryan Hellenthal is a new assistant men’s basketball coach at the University of Central Missouri.

Ryan finished his career as a Silver Streak in 1997. He graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago, where he served as a student assistant coach. His other coaching stops include a couple of the top JUCO programs in the country, Coffeyville and Garden City in Kansas, Boise State and most recently at Long Beach State for the past five seasons. He is now an assistant at the University of Central Missouri. We talked with Ryan on the WGIL Morning News.

Paul Schimpf is the republican candidate for Illinois Attorney General.

Schimpf is a southwestern Illinois native and a retired Marine officer who attended the United States Naval Academy. He served as an infantry officer and later as an attorney. He is running against Lisa Madigan for Illinois Attorney General. We talked with Paul on the WGIL Morning News.

We hear all kinds of reports from the government and media about the alleged civil war in Syria. Native Moussa Raei provided us with his opinions of what is going on.

Moussa Raei is a native of Syria who currently resides in Palm Springs, CA. His wife Amy is an Oneida native and R.O.V.A. High School graduate. Moussa disagrees with much of what we hear in the news and from our government regarding a civil war in his native country. We discussed his feelings and opinions on the WGIL Morning News.

Richard and Ashlee appeared on America’s Got Talent Wednesday night and moved on to the next round.

Richard Hankes is a Galesburg native. He has performed with numerous ballet companies and now performs with his fiancee Ashlee Montague. Their act includes strength and balancing. They auditioned for America’s got talent and were voted to move on to the second round on Tuesday night’s show. They joined us on the WGIL Morning News.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks are preparing for the State Meet this weekend.

The IHSA State Track and Field Meet takes place this weekend in Charleston @ Eastern Illinois University. The Galesburg Silver Streaks will be sending several athletes vying for a medal. GHS head coach Craig Hillier joined us on the WGIL Morning News to talk about the season and the upcoming state meet.
