UPDATE: Bomb Threat Forces Knoxville Schools to Evacuate

Knoxville School District 202 sent students home around 11:30 Monday morning after administration got word of a bomb threat in Knoxville High School.

Superintendent Steve Wilder says the threat was extremely vague, but the district didn’t want to risk the safety of students and made the decision to not just evacuate the high school but the entire district.

Republican Candidate for Governor Stops in Galesburg

A Republican candidate for Governor in the March primary election says he wants to help Galesburg and the state build on some of its important strengths if elected.

State Senator Kirk Dillard campaigned in town Saturday despite the snow, speaking to a small group gathered at Spudo’s on North Henderson Street.

Knox County Unemployment Nearly Flat Year-Over-Year

The unemployment rate increased again in Knox County, albeit by a negligible amount, according to the latest figures from the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Non-seasonally adjusted data showed unemployment of 8.7 percent in December for the County – higher than the 8.6-percent unemployment reported for the same period last year.

According to a press release, Illinois added jobs in four metro areas for the month of December.
