School Board Rejects Cooke Elementary Bids

The Galesburg School Board will go back to the drawing board to figure out how to sell Cooke Elementary School.

That’s because the board this afternoon voted to reject both of the bids received for the just-closed facility:  one from West Central Community Services Head Start for $200,000, and one from the Galesburg Rescue Mission for just over$279,000.

City Council Agrees to Workforce Training Grant

galesburgA local manufacturer will be able to train more of its employees with the help of a city economic development grant.

During last night’s Galesburg City Council meeting, aldermen unanimously approved $22,000 to the company.  The City of Galesburg allocates $50,000 on an annual basis for job training incentives.
