Bid Approved for Pool-Related Work at Galesburg High School

205logobwWork to get Mustain Pool at Galesburg High School open and running again will officially move forward.

The District-205 Board met in special session yesterday to approve a $237,000 bid from Galesburg’s JP Benbow Plumbing and Heating to repair and replace the HVAC system in Mustain Pool, after it failed over the winter, causing problems for the Silver Streaks Swimming and Diving Teams, and P.E. classes that also use the facility.

Knoxville Aldermen Discuss Street Repairs, Cost, Time

A discussion of Division Street in Knoxville came up during a Sidewalk and Streets Committee meeting prior to last night’s Knoxville City Council meeting that left aldermen with more questions that answers.

Division Street was brought up and its need to be resurfaced, but aldermen are not happy with how long it would take Knoxville Public Works Supervisor Tom Myers and his crew to get the work done.

Knoxville Aldermen Move Forward with Water and Sewer Bids

Knoxville aldermen have been working hard to get a new contract figured out for the operation of their water and sewer plant.

City Engineer Kevan Cooper told aldermen Monday he worked with Treasurer Jim Whitney and Mayor Bob Johonson, and went over their current plant operator’s contract as well as a contract for another plant operator Cooper works with.
