MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Luis Jacobo scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne to a 65-56 victory Thursday night over Western Illinois.
It will be a very quiet evening on the local sports schedule, as the remaining high school basketball teams will wait for tomorrow night’s regional championships at Abingdon, Toulon, Macomb, and Sherrard.
Another round of semifinal games are scheduled for tonight at the area boy’s regional basketball tournaments. In Abingdon, the homestanding A-Town Tornadoes will play the Galva Wildcats in the late game.
Regional tournament play continues tonight around the area in boys high school basketball. At Abingdon, the host A-Town Tornados will meet Bushnell-Prairie City in the first of two games tonight.
The post-season begins tonight for the small-school boys basketball teams in Illinois. Locally, the class 1A tournament is in Abingdon, where the only game of the night has the Ridgewood Spartans playing the West Prairie Cyclones.
VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota used a deft touch from the free throw line and from beyond the arc to snap a six-game losing streak to Western Illinois and even its Summit League record with a 64-54 win Saturday.
