The Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball Team opened up the Western Big 6 Conference season last night with a win over rival Rock Island Alleman, 78-38.
The GHS Silver Streaks Girls basketball team beat the Dunlap Eagles 62-48. This makes the girls 8-0 for the season and the Eagles sit at 1-7 for the season. The girls will play again Thursday against Quincy with a pre-game time set for 6:06 and tip off at around 6:30 with play by play with Erik Gibson and Tom Meredith on WGIL and WGIL.com.

The GHS girls basketball team dominated the Moline Maroons in a Western Big 6 match-up tonight at John Thiel Gym. Final score, 59-30. The Silver Streaks girls are now 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Western Big 6. Shayli Florine was named the Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game for her strong play in the 2nd half, including a total of 17 points and 13 rebounds.

The Moline Maroons are in town for Western Big 6 girls basketball tonight.
The highlight of area sporting events here at midweek will take place in Monmouth tonight, where the Knox Prairie Fire will battle the Fighting Scots in Midwest Conference basketball.
A pair of area boys varsity high school basketball teams will play road games tonight.
Most of the Thanksgiving basketball tournaments are over, with the exception of Williamsfield, where there will be three more boys games tonight.
