The Galesburg Silver Streaks ushered in a new era last ngiht with the first games at the new Van Dyke Stadium. Unfortunately, both the Sophomores and the Varsity finished with losses. The Sophomores fell to Rock Island Alleman 30-0. The Varsity faired a bit better but still came up short with a 16-6 loss. The Streaks varsity boys are now 1-1 early in the season.

The Silver Streaks opened the 2014 campaign with an exciting win 26-22 win versus Moline — a game that, until Thursday, wasn’t a sure thing as the Galesburg teachers strike went on.
The GHS Silver Streaks Football team fell in their home opener at the new Van Dyke Field to the Alleman Pioneers tonight 16-6. Both teams now stand 1-1 for the season. The Streaks will play again next Friday at United Township.
It’s off to Moline tonight for the Galesburg Silver Streaks football team. Weeks-long concerns about the ability of the team to play due to the teacher’s strike were finally laid to rest yesterday, and the Streaks will not have to forfeit their league opener to the Maroons.
