There was hope that the Silver Streak baseball and softball teams would get to play some home games this season. Mother nature decided not to cooperate and the decision was made collectively that the new facilities will not be ready before the end of the season. We talked about this as well as the other spring sports with GHS Athletic Director Ralph Henning on the WGIL Morning News.
It’s Wednesday, and that means there’s a light schedule of area ballgames to be played here at midweek. In baseball, Knoxville travels to United and North Fulton is at Rushville. In softball, Galesburg plays at Knoxville; Monmouth-Roseville travels to Ridgewood; and North Fulton hosts Brimfield/Elmwood.
Weather conditions, while not warm, have improved today and should allow some of the area baseball and softball games to be be played. The schedule shows Knox College will be at Augustana for a non-conference game this afternoon, while here in Galesburg, Carl Sandburg will host Blackhawk.
Galesburg High School graduate Chad Johnson joined us recently to talk about his pro baseball career.

Kyle Hunter is a Galesburg native, 2008 GHS grad and current pitcher in the Seattle Mariners organization. He joined us on the WGIL Morning news.
