Some of the Galesburg High School Silver Streaks spring sports were hoping to do at least some work at home this season despite ongoing Master Facilities Plan work, but that’s looking more and more to be not the case.
It was already known that the GHS track team wouldn’t be at home this year because of ongoing construction of the new football and track fields, but GHS Athletic Director Ralph Henning says even practice is a problem because of the harsh winter we’ve had.
So far, the only spring sports to happen at Galesburg High School are indoor track meets. Another of those comes up this Saturday, when Galesburg hosts the Silver Streak Indoor meet at Monmouth College.
The Carl Sandburg Chargers men’s basketball team continues on in play at the NJCAA National Championships in Danville, Illinois, today, as the Chargers take on Potomac State. It’s the first game for the Chargers in the consolationbracket, after losing in Game one to Wayne County, Michigan yesterday.

Monmouth College’s softball team left Florida with an 8-3 record after splitting Friday’s games, falling 5-3 to Richard Stockton and then defeating Bowdoin 4-3. Monmouth is scheduled to open their home season March 26.
