The soccer season may continue, or may come to an end today for several local high school teams.
One week remains in the regular season for high school volleyball teams in Illinois, and many area squads will be tuning up for Regional play tonight.

Some records fell in what turned out to be the only home meet of the year for the Galesburg Girls Swimming and Diving Team.
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Tre Roberson accounted for four second-half touchdowns and Nick Aussieker kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired, rallying Illinois State past Western Illinois 37-34 on Saturday.
The Galesburg community and especially the Galesburg athletic community lost what one person describes as a “force” recently.
They didn’t have the lead for the entire game — until it mattered.

The GHS Silver Streaks fought hard to beat Quincy 35-28 Friday night. Galesburg never lead until the game went in to overtime, but they never gave up either. They kept tying it up every time Quincy answered back with their own TD’s. Once in overtime, Galesburg scored off of their first play and lead for the first time 35-28. Possession then went to the Blue Devils and they fumbled on their first play and the Streaks quickly recovered thus ending the game and winning it for Galesburg. This makes the streaks eligible for the play-offs and this is the first time in 23 years that Galesburg got a piece of the conference championship. This as well as the new Van Dyke field being dedicated tonight makes this night an extremely special one. The Streaks will play again next Friday against Peoria Central.
