The Galesburg Thanksgiving basketball tournament continues tonight, and the home team will make its’ first appearance of the 2014-15 season, as the Silver Streaks boys play Chicago Marshall.
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Marcus Thornton scored 19 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, to lead William & Mary to an 83-49 win over Western Illinois on Tuesday night.

One week after the area girls’ hoopsters got their start, the high school boys basketball teams will hit the court tonight.
In their 4th game of the Thanksgiving Tournament at John Thiel Gym in Galesburg, the GHS girls basketball team held on for their 4th straight win. The Silver Streaks started the 4th quarter leading the Springfield Senators by 16 points, but were tested late in the game and won by just a point, 55-54. Lexi Daniels was named the Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. Lexi scored 13 points and saved two errant passes late in the game, which helped the Streaks retain the lead and the win. The GHS girls’ next game is a Western Big 6 match-up against Alleman on Tuesday night. Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson will bring you all the action on WGIL, starting with the pregame at 6:06 PM.

Carl Sandburg College is hosting a two-day men’s and women’s basketball tournament.
The GHS Silver Streaks Girls continue to blow away their competition beating the Illini West Chargers 61-44. This makes the Streaks 3-0 for the season, continuing to be undefeated so far. They will play again tomorrow for the Thanksgiving Tournament against the Springfield Senators. Pre-game for that game is scheduled for 5:40 tomorrow evening with tip-off around 6pm.
