Wayne Allen, Galesburg’s sixth Ward Alderman is getting out to make a case for why he should be re-elected on April 4.Allen is running for his fifth term as a member of the Galesburg City Council and spoke to Galesburg’s Morning News yesterday.

He made note of the positive work the council has been able to accomplish with replacement of lead pipes, the “Galesburg Promise”, as well as infrastructure upgrades, and he says more work is to be done to get a grant for lead paint replacement.

Allen thinks there has been some excellent progress with the business climate in Galesburg.

“I think if you wanted to talk to Mid-State, go to Thrushwoods, go to Hi-Lo, Casey’s, just talk to a lot of those places. They can tell you what we’ve done,” Allen says.

Allen went on to praise incumbent mayor John Pritchard’s who aided in getting Pegasus Manufacturing into Galesburg.

He said, “We would have probably lost them if it hadn’t been for Mayor Pritchard.”

Allen’s opponents in the race for sixth ward alderman are Chris King and Torry Carnes.
