Arson is suspected in a fire that gutted an East Brooks Street home Sunday morning.
The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1011 E. Brooks St. at 5:40 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames on the east side of the structure.
A search was conducted and no occupants or pets were found. No injuries were reported.
The structure is considered to be a total loss. Galesburg Fire Investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set and is still under investigation.
