Carol Bridges, 83, of Alexis, IL passed away Monday, April 13, 2020, at 5:00 a.m. at her home.  She was born Friday, September 4, 1936, in Macomb, IL the daughter of William Ernest and Abigail Irene (McCormick) Shannon.  She married Wilmer L “Jack” Bridges on June 2, 1956; he preceded her on August 12, 2007.

Carol is survived by two sons, Larry (Fern) Bridges and Steve (Doreen) Bridges all of Alexis; one daughter, Pam Bridges of Galesburg; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Reeves of Alexis, and Willie Heflin of Galesburg; four brothers, Stan (Linda) Shannon of Alexis, Ansel (Pat) Shannon of Burlington, IA., Rodney (Marilyn) Shannon of Effingham, and Dyson (Leona) Shannon of East Galesburg; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister (Verla Pruett) and brother (Lee Shannon).

Carol was a bartender for 42 years at Jiggs in Alexis.  She enjoyed going to BB Café and having coffee with family and friends.  Carol liked to make quilts and afghans for family and friends.  She enjoyed Saturday shopping and lunch outings with her daughter Pam and granddaughter Lilly.  She looked forward to family reunions where there would be many family members to visit with. Carol was a member of the Mothers of World War II, where she had served as State President and National President until the organization was disbanded.

Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation.  There will be a private graveside service in the Alexis Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Carol Bridges Memorial Fund.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family-Hoover Hall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
