Cab driver arrested for Driving Under the Influence of drugs Friday; Woman arrested for DUI early Sunday morning

Just before midnight on Friday, November 6th, Galesburg Police were notified that a driver for American Ferrier was acting erratically. An individual called and complained about their cab driver acting odd – and refused to pay her the fare with a debit card – suspecting the cab driver was under the influence of drugs. Police responded to the cab driver’s location in the 500 block of North Henderson Street and made contact with the driver: 39-year old Casey Ashby of Galesburg. According to police reports, officers had Ashby perform a series of field sobriety tests which she failed. Inside a container in a bag in the vehicle was what field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Ashby was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, and Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams.

Just before 3:00 am on Sunday, November 8th, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 2100 block of Grand Avenue. The caller told police a dark 4-door Chevrolet sedan was parked in her driveway that did not belong there, and the car’s alarm kept going off. Upon arrival, police tracked down the car and made contact with the driver: 21-year old Taliyah Keyes of Galesburg. Keyes’ slurred speech and bloodshot eyes caused officers to conduct a field sobriety test in which she failed. Keyes was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. According to police reports, a half bottle of Crown Royal was found inside the vehicle when officers took inventory. Keyes was also charged with Illegal Transportation of Alcohol. She was transported to the Knox County Jail for processing.
