A popular party supply store that has been in business in downtown Galesburg for more than 21 years will close its doors next month.

Casey’s Party Creations is going out of business March 31st–a decision owners Dennis and Carla Case say is “bitter sweet” after operating in the community for many years.

Dennis Case tells WGIL that the couple will be retiring to Florida.

“I’ll be 68 this year, she’ll be 63 so it’s getting to be that time,” Case says. “We’ve got a granddaughter down in Florida that is five years and old and we have seen half a dozen times. We’re missing her grow up.”

The Case’s started their business in 1990 after deciding they needed a career change. The business started selling baseball cards and expanded over the years opening the Main Street location in 1994. Dennis has also served as President of the Galesburg Business Association since 2005, a post he is resigning from.

“I’ve announced my resignation from there. The annual meeting will be over at the Kensington on the 10th of this month and at that point I’ll officially submit it. Amy Peterson is going to be our new President of the Galesburg Business Association.”

Both Case’s say they will miss their customers and friends. There is no indication as to what business could be slated for the space when it is vacated.

You can hear more from the Case’s this weekend when they join Terry Cavanaugh for Galesburg Live, Saturday morning at 7 a.m.
