The Galesburg School Board will go back to the drawing board to figure out how to sell Cooke Elementary School.
That’s because the board this afternoon voted to reject both of the bids received for the just-closed facility: one from West Central Community Services Head Start for $200,000, and one from the Galesburg Rescue Mission for just over$279,000.
Members of the Galesburg School Board approved a resolution last night allowing for the sale of Cooke Elementary.
The school was recently recommended for closure during this year’s budget talks – something that caused community discussions in both the City and area non-profits.
The Galesburg Community Relations Commission invited parents and guardians to their monthly meeting last night to discuses the closure of Cooke Elementary.
Several families showed up looking for their opportunity to tell the commission why they believe they’ve been discriminated against.
