Demonstrations continue over police-involved shootings

CHICAGO (AP) — Members of Chicago’s Black Lives Matter movement and other groups played dead outside President Barack Obama’s home in an effort to push the president to act on the violence occurring between police officers and the black community. The demonstration occurred a day after five officers were killed and several others injured in Dallas when a sniper opened fire at the end of a peaceful protest of recent police-involved shootings.

Activist Jedidiah Brown said Friday he and others were simulating bodies at a crime scene. Brown said there is more the president can do than just speak about the violence.

In another demonstration, activist priest the Rev. Michael Pfleger and entertainer Nick Cannon led 100 people through Chicago’s violence-plagued Auburn-Gresham neighborhood.

Cannon said, “It’s very apparent that we’re all in pain and we’re frustrated.”
