There’s no signs of slowing down at the Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg with plenty of new shows and highlights coming soon. Thursday, September 27th, the historic theatre will be showing “Love, Gilda” a documentary on the life, rise, and struggles of comedian Gilda Radner. Executive Director of the Orpheum Theatre Kevin Maynard says tomorrow night’s show is part of an unofficial documentary series being featured at the Orpheum. “She was an icon and an idol for many current and up-and-coming comedians and sketch comedy people,” Maynard said. “She paved the way for a lot of comedians so we’re really excited. The documentary officially came out last Friday. We’ll be showing it this Thursday at 7:00 pm.” In her own words, comedian Gilda Radner looks back and reflects on her life and career. The documentary features recently discovered audiotapes, interviews, rare home videos and diaries read by modern day comedians like Amy Poehler, Bill Hader and Melissa McCarthy on how Radner rose to be an icon on Saturday Night Live.  Tickets both in advance or at the door are five dollars for the 7:00 pm show. The part in the series will be the documentary “The Ghost Army” on Thursday, October 11th. Other upcoming Orpheum performances includes the Knox-Galesburg Symphony Masterworks #1 with “America The Beautiful” featuring guest conductor Christopher Stanichar on October 20th.
