Drugs and Weapons charges for Man and Woman after Friday traffic stop

Last Friday morning, March 19th, Galesburg Police observed a sedan on East Main Street with a severely damaged front windshield being driven by 35-year old Tyler Lytle of Galesburg – known to have a suspended driver’s license. GPD was able to identify Lytle due to multiple previous encounters with him and his passenger – 27-year old Meagan Markley of Alexis. Police made contact with Lytle and informed him he’d be arrested for driving on a suspended license while on parole. Lytle and Markley were known by police to be in possession of a handgun. Lytle continually refused police commands and was eventually tased numerous times before being detained. Once Lytle was detained, Markley attempted to flee from officers but was quickly taken into custody. Police discovered a throwing knife in Lytle’s front pocket, and a glass meth pipe on Markley’s person. Inside the vehicle, officers located a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine, a black replica BB gun on the floor, and another glass vile of suspected meth. Lytle was charged with Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of Meth, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Driving on a Suspended License. Markley was arrested and charged with Resisting a Peace Officer and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
