Energy bill assistance for low to moderate incomes available through Warm Neighbors Cool Friends

The Energy Assistance Foundation’s Warm Neighbors Cool Friends program has funds available to assist low- to moderate-income individuals and families this winter season with their Ameren Illinois energy bills.

The Energy Assistance Foundation is a not-for-profit that provides energy bill payment assistance to more than 2,500 homes every year.
While programs like the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) exist to help low-income customers, Warm Neighbors Cool Friends (WNCF) supports moderate income households – many of whom have never needed or asked for assistance before.
Since The Warm Neighbors Cool Friends program inception in 1982, the foundation has provided energy bill payment assistance to more than 100,000 homes in Ameren Illinois’ service territory.
Executive Director of the Energy Assistance Foundation Susan Sams says they often help seniors who get Social Security and a small pension,”
Sams says  “It is not an entitlement or handout program.”
She says the program is designed to helpt moderate-income customers who have incomes of 200- to 300-percent of poverty levels and cannot get help from anybody else.
