Galesburg Fire responded to a structure fire on Wednesday morning at a single-story home at 1000 Lancaster St.

There were no injuries reported and two residents were able to escape safely but preliminary damage estimates are at $15,000.

Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roofline at 7:45 a.m.

All three stations and 11 personnel on duty were called to assist.

The blaze was extinguished in the home’s attic, above the living room area.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be unintentional; due to the failure of electrical components.

The residents were placed at a local hotel by 1-800-Board Up and the Red Cross.
