Interview: Adam Ruehmer, Warner Bothers Records

We talked with GHS grad Adam Ruehmer who works for Warner Brothers Records on the WGIL Morning News.

Adam Ruehmer is a Galesburg High School graduate, attended  Augustana College and got a bachelor’s degree from McNally Smith School of Music College of Music in St. Paul, MN. He traveled the world with the band Linkin Park as their Strategic Marketing Manager for over 5 years and currently works in Interactive Marketing for Warner Brothers Records.

Galesburg’s Rich Horse Racing History

Galesburg’s history has so much to do with the railroad, and a local historian says a sport that will be in the national spotlight next weekend was practiced in town, thanks in part to the railroad.

Historian Rex Cherrington says a year after the railroad came to town in the 1850’s, a horse racing track was formed, but it was small — in that only one horse was taken around the track for harness racing at a time.

Celebrating Sandburg in Statue Form

The unveiling of the new Carl Sandburg Statue and its welcome to its temporary home was a time not to celebrate one artist, but two.

That’s according to Sandburg Historic Site Association president Barry Swanson, who told a ceremony at the former Ameren building yesterday he feels the honoring of Galesburg’s native son is something the entire community should embrace.
