City Council Attempts to Prioritize Budget

6-23-14 Galesburg City CouncilFIRST REPORTED 5pm 6/23/14  It took them all of three hours to decide, but the Galesburg City Council now has four main areas they want administration to work on when crafting a budget for the coming calendar/fiscal year.

Aldermen held the first of what will be many budget work sessions between now and the end of the fiscal year in December Monday afternoon.

Free Lunch Proposed for Galesburg Students

205logobwStudents in Galesburg’s elementary schools and at least one of the two middle schools could end up getting to have hot lunch for free during the school year if the Galesburg School Board so approves tonight.  The District-205 Board is being asked this evening to vote on a proposal to sign the district up for a four-year agreement in the federal “Community Eligibility Provision.”

6-19-14 Pegasus 1A manufacturer whose director of operations says has grown each of the last seven years it’s been in operation, is officially open, and has been formally welcomed to Galesburg.

Pegasus Manufacturing in the city’s Enterprise Zone held a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday, after being in town for what Ray Whitehead says has been about 100 days.
