Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs. United Township

SpotLight-GHS-Sports-BBallThe Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls lost to the United Township Panthers tonight 39-36. This makes the Streaks 17-2 for the season and 3-2 in the conference while the Panthers are now 15-3 in their season and 3-2 in the conference. The girls won’t play again until next Thursday January 15th against Alleman, with a pre-game time set for 6:06pm and the tip scheduled to take place at 6:30. GHS Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs Salem @ Mattoon Holiday Tournament

The GHS Silver Streaks girls beat Salem tonight 68-52 at the championship game of the Mattoon Holiday Tournament. The girls will be playing again Saturday afternoon against Normal West with a pre-game scheduled for 1:10 and tip off set for 1:30. GHS Silver Streaks Girls vs Vandalia @ Mattoon Holiday Tournament

The GHS Silver Streaks Girls beat the Vandalia Vandals tonight 76-49. The Girls remain undefeated in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament so far and sit at 15-1 for their season record while the Vandals moves to 7-8 for their season record. The Silver Streaks girls will be playing again on Monday against Salem in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament with a pre-game set for 7:06pm and tip scheduled for 7:30.

GHS Girls Basketball vs Jacksonville @ Illinois College

The GHS Silver Streaks Girls basketball team beat the Jacksonville Crimsons tonight 78-23. This makes the girls 11-1 for the season. The girls will play again next Friday against Salem in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament. Pre-game for that one is set for 9:40 in the morning with a 10am tip.

Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs Limestone at the Thanksgiving Tournament

The Silver Streaks boys got their 2nd win in the Thanksgiving Tournament at John Thiel Gym by handily beating Limestone, 73-46. It’s the first time Galesburg has beat Limestone since the 1997-98 season.  The Streaks next game in the tournament is tonight at 7:30 PM against East Peoria. Brad Bennewitz and Jim Lee will bring you all of the action starting with the pregame at 7:06 PM on WGIL and wgil.com.

Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs Springfield Senators (Thanksgiving Tournament)

In their 4th game of the Thanksgiving Tournament at John Thiel Gym in Galesburg, the GHS girls basketball team held on for their 4th straight win. The Silver Streaks started the 4th quarter leading the Springfield Senators by 16 points, but were tested late in the game and won by just a point,  55-54. Lexi Daniels was named the Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. Lexi scored 13 points and saved two errant passes late in the game, which helped the Streaks retain the lead and the win. The GHS girls’ next game is a Western Big 6 match-up against Alleman on Tuesday night. Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson will bring you all the action on WGIL, starting with the pregame at 6:06 PM.

Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs East Peoria Raiders (Thanksgiving Tournament)

Listen to GHS Silver Streaks BasketballThe GHS Silver Streaks girls beat the East Peoria Raiders by a land slide, 71-32. Kudos to the Raiders for playing hard all the way through though. This win is a huge milestone for coach Evan Massey. This Marks his 800th career win in his 35 years with GHS. He joins only a seldom few in accomplishing this feat. The Streaks will play again in the tournament on Thursday against Metamora. Pre-game for that one will begin at about 6:06p.m. with Erik Gibson and Tom Meredith. Tune in and catch it on 1400am WGIL or WGIL.com.
