Illinois State Police say a LaHarpe man was airlifted to the hospital following a two-vehicle incident in Henderson County on Saturday. 60-year-old Corbett Udell was traveling north on 700 East Road in Carman Township with a passenger in a Nissan Altima. Udell then crossed the center line and struck a semi-truck that was traveling in the opposite direction head-on. His Nissan then overturned and landed in the east ditch. The driver of the semi was uninjured, but Udell was airlifted to a regional hospital with what police describe as “serious injuries”. Udell’s passenger 48-year-old Brian E. Beaird of Cuba, Illinois refused medical attention. Udell was cited for a number of traffic violations including improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, and illegal transportation of alcohol.
