Illinois Congressman Holds Lottery For Pope Speech Simulcast

AURORA, Ill. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Bill Foster of Illinois is holding a lottery for tickets to an outdoor simulcast of Pope Francis’ speech to Congress.

Foster announced the lottery Wednesday for residents of his district, which includes Aurora, Joliet and Naperville. Tickets allow access to the U.S. Capitol’s West Lawn for the simulcast during the pope’s Sept. 24 speech. It’s the first time a pontiff has addressed Congress.

Residents of Illinois’ 11th congressional district can sign up for the lottery at Foster’s website through Sept. 7. Winners will be notified Sept. 8, and will be responsible for trip expenses.
